A Few Thoughts On Thought Bubble.
I didn’t have a table of my own and attended as a punter with my wife and kid.
My parenting skills were left wanting as he was doing my head in and I wasn’t shy about telling him. But after some quality wrangling from his mum we got on just fine. The cavernous main hall isn’t a pleasant experience for anyone, never mind a wee 4 year old.
He’s not really into comics yet. He’s more interested in ballroom dancing. But he likes the idea of Thor and once he realised he could blagg free chocolate off Phillipa Rice, he enjoyed it I guess.
He spotted, and I bought him, a book about space from the new kids imprint from Nobrow. I forget the name but it’s got a talking rabbit and looks very Nobrow. He loved it.
I ditched the family about 1 and went shopping.
I bought everything off the Breakdown Press table apart from the Klaus stuff.
Later on I shouted at the internet to buy Windowpane 2 while inebriated on the train home. No shame here. It’s a brilliant book. With a book within the book! Kessler has posted a lot of it in here and I’ll find it, and reblog it, in a bit.
Also from Breakdown I bought J.1137 by Antoine Cossé and Treasure Island by Connor Willumson. Haven’t read them yet but they look ace.
Ditto Youthful Attack from Douglas Noble.
Douglas baffled me in the pub later with his manga knowledge. That guy knows his shit, man.
I bought the Hic & Hoc Illustrated Journal of Humour. Mainly because I like Lizz Lunney and she’s always super nice when we meet.
I looked everywhere for Hip Hop Family Tree but no one had it.
I’m amazed whenever people come to Blank Slate’s table for me to sign stuff. I had a two hour stint and in which I signed quite a few. Thanks for massaging my ego, guys and gals.
I drew a roller girl which Rob Davis wanted to buy off me. I sold it him for a pint and a fag. I failed to find him after the show so Rob still owes me. I’ll find him.
I didn’t start drinking till late (for me) so didn’t have time to make a tit of myself before I had to go.
Showed a lot of people my new book on my phone. I’m putting down the collective “meh”-ing to screen size rather than content.
I missed my publisher.
I had top comics chat with Simon Moreton, Steve Tillotson, Gareth Brookes, Douglas Noble and others.
I moaned a lot less than normal, kept gossip down to a bare minimum and was quick to be positive about the scene if I saw a bitch brewing in any of my colleagues.
I drink ‘n’ draw almost broke out when we had a ‘grass off’ to see who drew the best grass. But we nipped that in the bud.
I really like comic shows.
I was I was there again today but I saw everything and escaped relatively unscathed.
Hangover is minimal.
Thanks for reading sorry for rambling.
